Of the typical plants of the forests of the Hungarian Middle Mountains, which have mesic soils, here blooms in spring the hellebore (Helleborus odorus), the famous flowering plant from the forests of southern Transdanubia, the very rare woodland crocus (Crocus tommasinianus), and the Carpathian bitter-cress (Cardamine glanduligera), which is found only in the north-eastern part of our country. In late spring, the wolfsbane (Aconitum vulparia) and moonwort (Lunaria rediviva) are in bloom.

A Magyar Középhegység üde talajú erdeinek a jellemző növényei közül tavasszal itt virágzik a dél-dunántúli erdők nevezetessége az illatos hunyor, a nagyon ritka illír sáfrány, nálunk csak az ország északkeleti részében élő kárpáti fogasír. Tavasz végén nyílik a farkasölő sisakvirág és a holdviola.
