The orchids, with their extremely varied flowers and shapes, are found almost all over the world. But 90% of their species are native to the tropics and subtropics. Today, botany knows about 22,000 orchid species. The species of the tropical plains and those of the mountainous regions, which require cooler climates, are presented in two separate sections of the greenhouse. In particular, from autumn to spring, you can admire the flowering of the butterfly orchids (Phalaenopsis), Venus slipper orchids (Paphiopedilum), boat orchids (Cymbidium), noble dendrobiums, Cattleya orchids and their hybrids. The well-known spice plant, the vanilla (Vanilla planifolia) sometimes bears fruit.

A színekben és alakban rendkívül változatos virágú orchideák csaknem az egész Földön elterjedtek. Fajaik 90%-a azonban a trópusok, szubtrópusok lakója. A tudomány ma mintegy 22 ezer fajukat ismeri. A trópusi síksági valamint a hegyvidéki, hűvösebb klímát igénylő fajokat az üvegház két egymástól elválasztott hajója mutatja be. Különösen ősztől tavaszig gyönyörödhetünk a lepkeorchideák, a Vénuszpapucs-orchideák, csónakorchideák, vesszősorchideák, bugakosbor fajok és hibridjeik virágzásában. Néha termést érlel a jól ismert fűszernövény, a vanília.
